In Saturday's Rocky Mountain News, the publisher, John Temple, announced his creation of redblueamerica.com. He decide that the current availability of internet (and cable!) allows us to set up our political camp as an exclusive place that tends to only involve people that think just like us. Those who tend to agree on policies and ideas utilize the same resources, hear the same arguments, and pat each other on the eback in agreement. He feels that the impact is to create more division, more divisiveness, more anger, less tolerance, and ultimately, no unity. Hmmm. I wonder if you've heard anyone else make that argument...in late November or early December?!

Constitution Day (Week)

In a year long class that is almost always Constitution-related, it is odd to me to have a Constitution Day or Week much like Black History Month makes no sense to me. However, we do what we must do. As I was creating a post for you, I glanced at CitizenU to see what they had done. Wow! Go to citizenU and play with students and people from outside your bubble. After reading through the 64 comments so far, I felt it was time to jump in. First, Mr. Teng has a good point about the awkward format of blogger. Remember that my primary goal of post #1 was to make sure ALL of you could access it. From now on, it is your choice to play...or not.

"What you believe" was, to me, one of the more enjoyable discussions I've had in A.P. Gov. Not only did you bring up a number of interesting positions and issues, but you did so in a respectful manner. And while we could certainly see the potential for disagreement and even conflict, it seemed as if you felt safe in expressing what you felt or thought.

What surprised you? What do you wish you would have added or questioned or changed with regards to YOUR positions? What "bombs" were thrown that you would have liked to have challenged?
